Found this rock in my back yard, has scale imprints all over it. Also found what appears to be a primitive tool, it fits nicely in the hand and one side is chipped away to leave an edge for scraping or cutting. ????? The rock is 13" by 8" by 5". The tool is 3" by 2" by 1/2".

Wow! Is there a university or museum near you that you could have take a look at it? Those sure look like scales to me!

Going to have it checked out someplace, don't know where yet. University in Louisville possibly. Thing is dinosaurs are not known to have been in this area. Lots of mastodons, tusks and mammals and such. I'm located north east of Louisville, KY. Never know though.

Have an identification, favositid tabulate coral. Fossilized coral. Guess it's quite common, it's found around the Lousiville, ky area and the Falls of Ohio. Seen a lot of carving and jewelry made out of the stuff on ebay.
