Dug this LC, weighs only 7 grams, specs say it was minted at 10.98.
drilled off center, which I think is procedure for counterfeits.
quite thin compared to others I have. :icon_scratch:
I don't think the erosion on this would take the 4 grams, about 30% off, but wanted to hear the experts opinions.
Thanks for looking! & HH :icon_thumleft:

It may be real, as I have an Indian cent that was struck on a very thin planchet at the mint, can't remember the year, but, it has a full strike and it doesn't weigh what it should. Look into "varieties" of your coin.........NGE

It's a Matron Head 1822 LC , minted 2,072,339 in G-4 value $25. I would say not a fake.

Looks real enough & maybe they were drilling coppers to sew into their clothes as well as silver  Remember it would have been a fair amount of money at the time.

Nice LC Herbie and good ID :icon_thumright: :icon_thumright:

I like the term 'Stash Drilling' :D and think this theory is well supported with the location of the hole.
