Counterfeit Peace Dollar x2 & interesting finds at new old site

Finally hit a spot in the park woods that is at the intersection of a couple deep rutted lost dirt roads. Figured the 10 minute additional hike was worth it since I have a back up spot nearby in case it was a bust. No visible occupation from any of my maps or aerials, just a hunch from the lidar images. Obviously after 3 hours of swinging, the spot is loaded with targets. A bunch of wheats, no clad and no beer cans have me thinking occupation from 1900-1950 or so.

The large heavy disks rang up as 20-21 on the Nox. Thought they were some kind of lead token or cap in the woods. Pretty surprised when I cleaned them up. I think they are definitely pewter counterfeit Peace Dollars. I was not able to find anything on the web about these. The one pic with the actual silver dollar was found 2 miles away last year.

The dog or horse engraving on the pocket watch case is pretty cool. I think the larger bottle is an ink container? If so my first and of course all new old sites in W PA are loaded with spoons… thx!

Could those be genuine silver dollars that were in a fire? I’d put one on a scale and see what it weighs compared to real one. I found a Kennedy half that was in fire and had similar look.

That petcock is very ornate. I can’t tell the thickness of it. If thick-walled, it may be from a steam line. The design would have me think it’s from a boiler system. Possibly a drain line. I’d guess it was quite visible, hence the fancier designs on it. Great finds !

They had the brown crust that old pewter spoons typically have and the one coin has tell tale pewter flaking on the edges like on pewter buttons. My cleaning process for lead and pewter is a scotch brite pad under running water. That is what I did for these. I would think judicious rubbing with scotch brite pad on fire burnt silver would have lead to some shiny areas, not on these “coins”. Thx
