Spent a little while at the huge regional rec park nearby. I noticed hundreds of cars parked on grass parking on weekends since there are many soccer fields, four baseball diamonds, several pickle ball courts, a big pool, and kids playground. Seemed to have some potential. I searched maybe 100 yards in a straight line, consistent with where front doors would be. Experimenting. Got a bit of trash, and then set my volume to 0 for everything below 40 on my Legend and started digging just coins. Essentially eliminated nickels and maybe I'll put them in next time since I covered maybe 1/20th of the grass parking areas.
It was 90 degrees out there when I quit. Too hot for an old guy to be anywhere but a treasure coast beach.

Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Thanks. Looks like whatever they use on the grass turns everything dark.

I would look for nickels before looking for higher tones because that's where the gold is!
Nice hunt though!

Kinda had in mind to go back over basically the same area with just that range as the setup. What range would you recommend.

Honestly, I've pulled gold with the Legend everywhere between 11 and 46 VDI. Scratchy (usually chains or a ring with a broken shank) or clean signals. If you don't dig all that you will definitely miss gold.
For example these are the VDIs for gold and platinum rings I've found with the Legend. Notice the range where most ring up, right there with nickels and pull tabs.

Nice digs !

5 quarters on a single hunt....that's better than average. Congrats.

Back to the park today after making a few adjustments to the settings. Basically broadened the range of audible tones. Dug more trash, but not too bad. It's close by and I could run over for about 1.5 hrs and try it out. These were the keepers:

Only covered from camera to the car today:

The area in red line is what I've searched, and the yellow line is yet to be searched. That's just parking! People set up awnings, seating, picnics, etc. around the 8 soccer fields.

Nice pile of coins.

Back at it today. Still working the same small strip of parking. The wheat penny is 1957.
