The bullet measures .449 dia im assuming thats a 45 magnum? Any idea how to tell if its old or modern?
The shell casing tip hole measures .154 id and .24 od at tip...total length 2.62
Ive never seen a shell so long but small in dia. Any ideas?

Cartridge headstamp reads L C 8 9 or L C 6 8 depending on how its read...

.45 ACP probably. Hand gun load.

I believe the brass is a blank, that why it looks so small at the end, no bullet was present.

Correct Carolina Tom. It is a blank. It would have had red paper in it if it were unfired. This one appears to have been fired as there is a dimple in the primer.
