here's a pic of one that would have been six inches minimum, probably a sav. river, it is made from limestone (has little shells in it too), and first i/ve found of this material at the site in tidewater virginia, must have come from the mountains, the other pic is a hammerstone i think, it is hard polished granite that is perfectly symmetrical, it has a few little peck marks i think, this rock was so atypical of other stones there and so smooth that i picked it up, do you guys think it is a hammerstone?

What do the edges of the stone look like? A hammer stone will usually show very clear signs of wear in an area around edge.

it does have a few dings that i took to be pecking marks, but overall very smooth, i was thinking that since this stone was so hard, and most material found here is quartzite, that the stone just did not get that dinged up

Nice Va. finds, first piece would have been huge whole. I think you're right on the hammerstone, looks like a keeper to me.
