Couple of buttons...need help

So it’s been a looong time since I posted my first find which was a decorative butt plate from a long gun akin to a Brown Bess...probably War of 1812 era. We excavated it on our farm with is in Virginia, between the Rapppahannock and Potomac Rivers. I promised we would do some more digging, but medical issues prevented us from getting back to the metal detecting until today. We went to the spot where we found the butt plate, and we found these two buttons nearby, within the hour. I’m super frustrated because I can’t read the back of the smaller button. The larger one has some brass, but you can’t make out anything on it. They are both flat.

If they aren’t from early 19th C. That’s fine, I just thought someone might need the context from our earlier find.

Reads “Treble Gilt”, plus another word I can’t make out. You are correct that they’re common early to mid 19th century flat buttons. These were often made in England by the millions, though are always nice finds at older sites. Congrats on digging some nice older history!

I’m working on the other button. It looks like there is faint lettering in the edges. I’ll post it again if I can figure it out.

From the golden age of flat buttons. ~1830’s plus of minus ten years. Just the shape and thickness of the first one likely makes it about he same age. Keep at it!
