Couple of outdoor pics

A little pond south of Breck that I always wanted to take a pic of. Stopped on the way to the campsite yesterday and took a couple of pics, but doesn't look quite as impressive as it does in real life. In the third, figure out which one is the Indian artifact.

I think the center item and the one on the right could both be classed as genuine artifacts or whats left of activity by the hand of man imo. Let see what Old Diggers has to say on this one.

I believe the one that is worked is the last one. It looks like a small knife with the worked edge facing to the left. It also some pretty material that would hold an edge.

Well, they all three are. The last two are brokes. The middle one is the base of a point. The third one is the base of a point or knife. The first one is one that gives you a start when you first spot it. It's not a worked item that was ever used for anything, but just a piece of scrap as a result of toolmaking. It's sharp enough to use as a knife and if found at a butchering site it might have been used for that, but this is just a workshop site, so I'll call it scrap. A few brokes laying around on the surface at this site and lots of flakes and chips. Material is mostly red jasper, some yellow jasper, maybe some heat treated Kremmling chert, and I guess Trout Creek chert, as that quarry is just west of there. Noted a couple of flakes of obsidian, which was cool. This site is still being used as a campsite by visitors to the national forest, and I don't believe anybody but me has recognized it for what it was. There's really not much threat to the integrity of the site, and I don't believe I will go ahead and report it. I could just see the feds coming in and blocking the spot off to keep people out, and it really is a good camp site. At least it meets all the qualifications I look for in a camp site. (And no, I did not take anything home from there. Well, I took that garter home I found there last week.)

My buddy in BV told they busted some artifact seekers who were using a underwater viewer in the shallow area opposite of the dam on Antero Reservoir. I can't find any info online to support his story.

Could be. If I ever find anything cool on federal land, I intend to mark the location, contact the authorities, and have them curate it in a drawer in a dark museum basement for the next 1,000 years, haha!

At least there in the dark basement museum drawer they stand good chance not getting crushed under the hooves of any deer, elk, cattle, horses and the wheels of dirt bikes, 4x4's & ATV's
