You're really ripping um a new one. Great coins man. OH, I was told that only ML EX's and SE's could find deep silver, ;),
From the looks of your finds you are indeed a pro, and you found great silver at an old camp. Do you see a trend as to how deep the silver is at those sites, and how deep in general is silver in your area? And is that a Gold ring I see?

Thanks.

the deepest coin in the pic was at 7'in.. most were at 3-5 in this certain spot..
my deepest dime was at 8'in, under a root the size of your wrist...personally, i think they're finding the deep stuff we see here, mostly in dirt a lot looser than what we have around here,, i've seen some videos that the guy digs a plug 7-8 inches in about 30 seconds.. :o :o most areas around here it would take 4-5 minutes more in some spots to get that deep with tight packed soil, rocks and such... loose soil means better signals..... ;D

Congrats on some excellent finds there! That "3" on the copper is interesting. DonSJ will likely know more about that particular counterstamp. I know some counterstamps can be identified as to who marked the coins.

I swear to you on the Bible that it's the same freaking way out here. The trend in SoCal is after 3”’ to 6” we hit a rock and clay soil matrix, or a cliché layer which is like cemented soils.

Those are the strata levels that silver is mainly found at. At times I have to literally use a mattock pick to get at target at 1” when hunting sites that has been scraped 3" to 6" give or take. So what you think is true unless someone is digging in Home Depot turf or a heavily irrigated park. We are in a drought, and that makes it even harder. When we talk about metal detecting depth we know it's like a fish story. I dread digging a 5 " coin in conditions out here.

HH and thanks for answering my questions.
