I went out today, but really had not planed on going out. I went out yesterday with Greg Szybala (Justonemore), and we went to a field that I was sure we would have had found some artifacts. We found a couple of broke pieces was all. Greg and I was talking and he had said that he goes out to a place about three times before he gives up on a place, without finding anything. I had gone out to this field one other time about a month ago, and found a few flakes, but nothing really. This is a huge field, and I started out finding a nice point right off the bat, and then a broke base. I thought to myself this is either going to be a great day, or I have finished up finding all that I would find. Well I had walked most of the day looking finding scattered flakes. I walked up on a small knoll that I picked up a dandy scraper, and it had a little more concentration of chips, which were heat treated. I continued walking the rest of the field, and was headed back. I got to a point in the field where I could see the jeep off in the distance, but I could also see where I had found the scraper, and decided that since I was out there I might as well go back and walk it. I was just about to the knoll and had a washout to cross to get there when I saw the celt. No mistake I knew I had found one. Now I was stoked to say the least, it might be more common to find them here, but in the Colorado mountains they are not an artifact your going to find. So Today was a great day! Still stoked! ;) :) :woohoo: DSCN1444.webpDSCN1445.webpDSCN1446.webpDSCN1447.webpDSCN1448.webpDSCN1452.webpDSCN1453.webpDSCN1450.webp

Congrats on crossing that off your list. That is a dandy one to be your first one ever. Great looking in situ as well.

Congratulations!!! That is a great find. Thanks for sharing.

I think I might just retire if I found one that nice. That nice are rare anywhere . Congratulations great pic and story.

Definitely congratulations I know I was very excited when I found my first one... My only whole hardstone one actually.

I bet it was more polished when it was first made but sitting out in that harsh weather has it all pitted and nicely aged. A great find for sure.
