I know its not treasure related but its bad a--- non the less. Took my youngest pooch out to stretch his and my legs this afternoon and look what I stumbled upon chomping down a squirrel, a monster Eastern Timber Rattler..epic. In one second however he can puke that squirrel out in a heart beat an whip around and either tag me or my dog.

I know! I know you guys in Colorado have some big Rattlesnakes, but this is one of the biggest in the northeast I have seen in a long time...I'd say between 6-71/2 ft

Cool pic. You were pretty safe since it had somethin goin on and it probably wouldn't have even been able to spit that out and turned on you, at least very quick. Tamrock has some fine specimens of rattlers where he lives and he should be organizing hunts and cookin them up (They don't taste like chicken; they do taste like snake) They can't live here at my altitude so I don't got none.

Wow...great that you got pictures & not bit! It is a pretty colored rattler, only ones I've seen were...well a pic is worth a thousand words...this is a den we found...

Neat! Thanks for sharing...

I don't think the rattlers here on the front range get all that big? I've never seen one as I think they hide in Prairie dog holes before you walk up on them in the in the areas they hang out at. I don't believe their at all like those Timber Rattlers. A long time ago I worked the summers flagging the fields for an aerial applicator (crop duster) in Iowa who was our neighbor. I'd drive out to the field to be spayed ahead of him and wait for him to show up or go back and fill-up. Waiting one time in a field around Winterset, Iowa I came upon the biggest Timber snake I'd ever saw. I swear he was as big around as a small coffee can. I dang near didn't see him. I ran back to the truck that was a bit far away and got a .22, but I couldn't find him after that. I wanted get his skin.
