crude spokeshave

drove out to the field but it was too windy to do any walking
I saw these things next to the truck so I got out and picked them up
a very pathetic looking TRSS spokeshave, a broke tang knife, and another KRF scraper
do you guys think it is a spokeshave?

It is certainly possibler that it is a spoke shave Lars. I have several and they look nothing alike other than the concave area worked into them
making them a spokeshave.

Too bad about the corner tang. I have not seen very many of them in our area, and I suspect they are kind of rare here.

Looks more like the equivalent of a hawkbill knife, Lars. from the thin edge angle. A spokeshave would have a steeper edge to stand up to that kind of work.

The tanged knife is rare and sweet,broken or not....Congrats on a first find..

The unifacial tang knife is a nice find Larson. We have found several that were unifacial but most are bifacially flaked.

I can’t tell for sure from the picture but I am assuming it is made of KRF?

Any tang knife is a rare find but tangs made of KRF are especially rare. I have only seen two KRF specimens found in Nebraska and I believe one from Wyoming.

Another thing, Lars. Notice the way the edge opposite the cutting edge is squared off to enable greater finger pressure in cutting.

if you want more images I would be grateful for any added info
I am learning a lot from people like you since I joined T-Net
I know I have left lots of this stuff just lay as I walked by it.
