Not many people liked my new name, so I'm back to plain old Cru'.

Did a group hunt on some of my Fav land today with a couple from the forum. But will let them tell their stories.

We easily did 9 hours today, Cru'Dad only joined us after lunch for a few hours.

Lots of stuff was found.

The medieval hawking swivel still swivels & is my first 8)

I have a hammered which makes no sense at all. The letters are nonsense, I will need the museum to sort this unusual find out :icon_scratch:

We all enjoyed ourselves ;D

UPATED:

THANKS TO ROB I NOW HAVE AN ID FOR THE HAMMERED.
Edward I European imitation.

Re: CRUSADER BACK.............with an unidentified hammered!

You know our stuff (although I think these ones are slightly later than 1550-1600), nice job  Do you collect, study, or are you a Brit abroad?

I travel to England to detect, will be there the 1st week of October ;D

I love your finds posts....

PLEASE tell me what that thing is that looks like two legs and two arms and a hole where a face would be near the bottom of the items pictured...

Thanks for posting!

Do you mean the Georgian key hole

No Sir - not the key hole...

This fella here...

Its part of an old measuring device to measure areas of fields using a chain & every (100yrds(can't remember the exact intervals)) was one of these. This is the 4th marker in the chain.

:icon_king: YOU are the man... how cool is that?

Do you know what would happen in the "What Is It?" forum if someone from New York posted that? We would NEVER figure it out! Thanks :)

Re: CRUSADER BACK.............with an unidentified hammered!

Great finds Crusader! The hammered sure looks like an Edward 1st, 1279ish, I just can't make out an EDW on it. HH, Mike

Wouldn't think a simple sterling imitation would stump you of all people Crusader .European copy of an English coin of Edward .As long as the silver content was the same as the real thing they passed as currency.

Re: CRUSADER BACK.............with an unidentified hammered!

Any chance the coin is Scottish or something like that. King Alexander?? My books don't cover Scotland/ Ireland/ Wales.

First one in my collection, so I've never had to research one & I have yet to see any in passing.
Funny thing is European copy was one of my theories I told Dad, but couldn't work out why it was such good silver.

THANK-YOU for clearing that little mystery up for me.

LOL@ Montana! I thought it was a flattened out business end of a Medevil back scratcher.........NGE

Cru you ROCK !! :headbang: As ALWAYS Amazing Finds !!!!!! :occasion14:

Looks like you got a neat assortment of old relics and coins! :) Very nice job! :)

UPDATE ON FULL ID:

This is a sterling of Gaucher de Chatillon, count of Porcien (1313-22),
from the mint of Yves. On the obverse is Gaucher's name and title (GALCh
COMES PORC} and on the reverse the inscription says that this is the new
money of Yves (MONET NOV YVE).

No wonder I couldn't id it, my French is terrible :D

Lucky Sod Cru, you´ve got some really good fields in your neck of the woods
