CSA Cav. Troops Left Christmas Presents Under The Trees!! KY Button + More

Dman was playing Ebenezer Scrooge in his store and still on crutches today but Tenn. Josh (third member of the Tennessee Trio) was busting to go relic hunting after working 21 days straight. We met up and hunted a Gen. John Hunt Morgan Camp. It was cloudy, high of 45 degrees, and the soil was saturated with moisture. The signals were mostly 10 inches and deeper.
Josh stepped out of the truck, walked about 10 ft., and dug a Gardner at 11 inches with his F75 as shown in the first pic. I made a picture of him as this was the first Gardner he had ever dug despite the many hunts he has been on with Dman and myself.
Later in the day, I got a faint signal with my F75. When I popped out the plug I saw a .69 cal. round ball staring at me as shown in the third pic.
Josh had the 3 Best Finds:
.577 cal. Enfield bullet with "57" in the base (His 3rd from that camp)
Iron Ball Puller and it was DEEP
Carved .58 cal. 3 ring bullet that looks very similar to the .69 cal. carved acorn bullet I dug this fall. The top looks somewhat unfinished and Josh theorized that one soldier saw the acorn bullet I dug and tried to carve one like it. Who knows which came first but the two carved bullets were dug about 100 yards apart.
I have a little more research to do on a couple of my relics and if they turn out to be exciting, I'll update this post. We had a good day for a 4.5 hour hunt in a good ole Confederate Camp. HH, Quindy.

Read the update-the relic that is pinched together above the bullets on the upper right is the top piece of a KENTUCKY button!!! Thanks to Buckleboy for figuring out the gilted part is actually the underside of the top part. I knew if anyone would know about KY buttons, it would be him. Thanks BuckleElf!!

Isn't it fun to pull relics out of a "hunted out" spot? It's always a challenge but it is so rewarding when you succeed. Congrats on the KY button, I also like that bullet worm

Steve, there's no telling how many times I have walked over the exact area where the button was dug with the old detector and never got a peep. These F75s are awesome machines. On top of that, we are digging "13" signals at 10-11 inches in all metal motion mode and many times they will be good relics (the manual does NOT tell you about that). The iron range on the F75 runs from 1 to about 14. HH and Merry Christmas Bud, Quindy.

Nice finds and front to the 3 piece KY. We find 3 piece buttons frequently here in Virginia many times they have lost their seal ring leaving the nicely gilted underside visible as Will pointed out. Nice save and end of the year hunt
