Sure looks like it to me ! but I have no idea what it used to be .

Looks official to me too, that's really cool !!

Keep @ it and HH !!

Looks like it to me, I'm sure others will chime in shortly. Nice find!

Found today about 6 Inches down at the site of an 1880s demolished home. I just loaded the fragments up in my pouch and didn't think anything of them. When I got home and put the puzzle together my jaw dropped. Is the Civil War CSA?!!! Any help would be greatly appreciated!
What State did you find it in ? That alone can open up possible leads

Wonder if the rest of the frags are still there?...beauty!

wonder how it got broken that way instead of bent

Very nice. Congrats

Had I known what I was digging up I definitely would have spelt a LOT more time in that hole. I will be going back for sure.

I found it in far North Texas.
Far north Texas I would start looking up Texas Mounted rifles Terrys Rangers and try to get a picture of one of them with a belt buckle Always good to know where abouts an item was found

What does the back look like? Any signs of attachment hooks? I'll have to say I have never seen a CSA plate with a double border like yours but, there are a lot of things I have yet to see!

I had to leave my house before I got a chance to clean or evaluate the back side of the piece. The plate is pretty thin. I'm not exactly sure how thick normal CSA plates are. Here's a pic of the thickness.

Can't wait to hear from an expert if it's the real deal. If it is I know there are restoration artists that can probably get it back to 1 piece (for a price). A guy in our club found a mangled SC breast plate & the restoration was very impressive.

Nice find. We will have to look at old civil war pics to try and find what that is.

Nice I swear that's all my wife wants me to find for her lol.Even though its broken THATS AN AWESOME FIND WOULD HAVE LOVED TO SEE YOUR FACE WHEN YOU REALIZED GREAT FIND

I have been Googling pictures like crazy and still haven't found a match. I sure hope its the real deal. It seems to be really old just from its appearance. However I know that doesn't necessarily mean it authentic.

Nice find for sure here in North Texas. There was activity around here, just no big battles.
