I would go with excal. Waterproof over 200 ft and half the price. ..

Excalibur...I have the CTX n Excalibur and would say the Excalibur is the better water machine, now that is in the saltwater. Wetsand it is close but just my opinion the CTX may have the edge there, and the reason you can cherry pick better, and skip the pennies....and I know gold comes in at 12/37 but wasted time on those babies in some places means more time digging gold. For the price the Excalibur will pay for itself in the right location in no time....

If you are mostly beach detecting as stated in the OP then I would go with the Excalibur. Plan on having to spend another 100-$200 for a rear mount rod though because the stock shaft has terrible ergonomics. The CTX is nice, but there are too many nooks and crannys for sand/ water intrusion IMO and a lot more care and maintenance involved. The CZ-21 is a close second and from what I can tell it is probably a little bit tougher than the Excal. It certainly feels like it is built like a tank when you have the CZ pole mounted and try to hunt anywhere but in the water. It is ok hip/ or chest mounted though.
