Seems to me with many of the sanctions against Cuba being relaxed and limited travel being allowed, the 1st one to cuba's beaches is going to find some bling. Judging by their cars, I'm pretty sure they don't have very good water machines, if any.

Getting it home, that's another story

Who has it really been hunted by in the past 50yrs? It might be worth a cheap vacation to couch surf or room rent for a bit to give it a try. There's an opportunity for a lot of short term sublets on Airbnb according to NPR. I'm guessing there's gotta be some old stuff burried out there; maybe not recent coinage, but then again, who cares about that!

Hmm Cubans have Excalibur's and CZ-20 sent over by families here, they enjoy detecting as much as us. The crowd is simply much smaller than what we have here in the states per capita. However due to the small relative population of detectorists over-there the beaches should be quite full of jewelry, trust me i know this. I'm Cuban and know that small group of hobbyists..

Gold 15-20 years ago was very cheap in Cuba, and big jewelry was very fashionable and common. It should be ubiquitous in the hardpan down there, especially in the tourists beaches.
