I spotted this dime in my cash register at work tonight.
I flipped through my Red book, and the Defective Die
description is as close as I can come to what this
dime might be. Is this, in fact, a cud dime, and if
so, about what would it be worth if more than face
value?
Im not sure how well the picture will show up, so...
The In God We Trust part is squished by the outer rim
of the dime. The rim also shows a "ramp" effect as if
the rim was coiling in on itself. The W in We is what
is mostly smooshed.
At first, I thought someone might have just taken it
to a press or something, but only one "side" is flat,
and a press wouldn't explain the ramp effect.
The image on the right is how it really looks, the
left was modified to make it easier to see some of
the defective details.
