cuff button ID please

Found this yesterday, posted it in todays finds, thought I would post it here also. It seems to be made of brass or copper, maybe even bronze. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Dean

Just saw this. Are you sure it's brass or copper. Because of the dot beside the shank I'm thinking this is a more modern button. If it is brass or copper and is old it dates back to the 1700's or earlier. I could be wrong but from the pics I really don't think it's that old.
