Hi, I was scouting a new spot with a buddy today where an old house used to sit. I think the house was tore down back in the 70's and fill dirt had been brought in. Some interesting pc's. did pop up though. This spoon which appears to be brass says what I think is Marshall Silver on it. I can't find anything on that name. The brass cup I found in 3 pc's. there is on vertical seam on the cup where the single pc. was joined to itself. It was flatter than what is shown but I did open it some. I found the bottom and the handle. I joined the handle with a pc. of scotch tape just to give you an idea of how I think it went together. I see some numbers stamped on the side of the cup and what appears to be a large v also. Very small cup as you can see next to the tic-tacs box. Any idea on the spoon and cups age?

The spoon may be a Marshall Field & Co which is now known as "Macy's".... Marshall Field & Co was est in the 1850s in Chicago, Illinois and had a huge department store! i think started making silverware in the 1880s. Most spoons that I have seen from them have "Marshall Field & Co" or "Marshall Field" (with no &Co) and i do not know if they marked anything "Marshall Silver" it should be "Marshall Field & Co" or "Marshall Fields".

It does not say anything after silver. And I can definitely make out ARSHALL, the first letter is harder to decipher. I tried getting a macro of the wording but all you can make out in the pic is the word silver but you can see that nothing follows it. The tiny cup I think is more intriguing...never seen anything like it. spoon 001.JPG

Cool that you found all the parts of the cup.

My first thought was a "child's tea set" cup. But my brief search didn't turn up any pics of such a simple cup. Maybe a measuring cup? 1/4 cup?
