Looks natural to me.

I thought so at first but upon examining the grooves I noticed what seems to be evidence of the use of a chisel.

If you turn the picture upside down it looks like 1777. Was there anything military going on in that area during that time? I've been to Civil War campsites that had soldiers names and dates carved into rocks.

Awesome eye, I will research that now. Almost looks like initials in the top right corner also or at least more markings.

I Am In For It! Hudson, MA has a very rich history beginning in the early 1600's; Native Tribes, Settlers, Military, etc...

Update: Spoke with Archaeologist at UMASS AMHERST; after viewing the photos he was able to inform me that they are in fact not natural and are man made.
