Back to the site that produced the 'Brown Bess' butt plate. No more musket parts but did manage to pull a couple of other neat finds. Started out with a duck band. First old find was a small flat button. Then added one to the cut copper collection! Cut KG II Half Penny. Best condition KG yet. Can read "17" and part of "Britan." Another interesting note - dug an ox shoe and the KG out of the same hole! Also pulled a thin decorative item that looks like a hatpin or something similar. Another odd item found was a tapered wooden shaft with a thin wrap of copper. The wrap of copper seems to be fastened by an iron rivet. Any ideas for this item? On long hike back to the car I managed a wheat penny and what looks like a muzzleloader pistol ball. Thanks for looking!

Congrats on a good hunt. That cut KG is super cool. I agree that that other item is a hat pin even though it is shorter than the ones I normally see.
