I put in a little time at a park before the rains came this morning and boy am I glad I did. Got a 12-44 on the eTrac about 6" down. Searched and searched and in the plug was a CUT SILVER!!!!!!

This rare variety (only 53,490,120 were ever minted!!!) depicts the left-facing bust of Franklin D. Roosevelt, the 32nd president of the United States. It was minted in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1953 (soooo lucky to get the date!!) which makes it almost 65 YEARS OLD!!!! I'm still in shock.

Well done Mur!

I enjoyed that post. Very insightful and well written.

Haha! Nice one Chris

Pretty sure creating a thread like this is a banable offence.. lol

I must admit, its the first I've ever seen! :laughing7:

Wow a silver half dime! :laughing7:

Congrats on the cut silver Murray. :occasion14: You got me, nice title and funny post. :tongue3: I am glad that all my cut or mangled coins were either clad or copper Lincolns. I have about a coffee cup full of these and am thinking of making a necklace out of them, sorta like a sharks tooth necklace. Something I can wear to group hunts as conversation piece.

Some folks have all the luck. :occasion14:

:censored: crappy USA silver :laughing7::laughing7:, expected some pirate booty:icon_thumright:

That's it. I'm moving to NJ so I can get in on that cut silver action !

Congrats on that rare find! Wish you could have found the other half.

Once found a piece cut out of a Franklin half dollar. It was the silhouette of the bell...

LOL! Nice find! HH
