Hi Everyone,

Took a few hours out to dig today and was pretty fortunate. Found 16 mini's and 1 musketball. One thing that was really cool about today was I had to dig a 3 ringer out of a piece of all rotten wood. I attached photo's to tell the story. Thanks for looking. By the way has anyone ever seen a 3 ringer with a 4th ring around the top? I will be submitting a close photo in the What is it section soon.

Roy

Should have left it in the wood wort about 10X more :'(. Great finds though.

Darn,,,,,,,,,, >:( Okay next time it stays put. Was fun seeing it come out non the less :o. Next time.... ;)

That would be cool to keep them together. Maybe one day I will be lucky enough to find a bullet in wood.

Yep! Should have left it in the wood.At our dinner for the JD Oct Hunt,a young man helping from the Amer.Legion, had a belt buckle with a mini still in it.His father had given it to him.It had been found in 1933,had the documentation with it.He would sell it,but he and I couldn't agree.I think a $100-150 would buy it.Buckle is in excellent condition considering the mini just off center.

Nice piece of war wood, but you should've left it in the wood. Nice finds.

I saw something similar on Best Places to find Cash & Treasure. They had two bullets that had hit head on & stuck together. Was worth several hundred dollars.

Hey Trk5capt,

Thankfully I didn't damage the wood taking this bullet out. The wood is super soft and wet from being underground. I will clean up the area and do what you say. Preserve it and replace the bullet. I'm not selling it anyway and it will make a nice conversation piece for my collection. Thanks for the help.

The bullet popped out and popped back in. I need to let the wood dry out then preserve the wood with the bullet back in. Last photo is with bullet replaced.

Pretty nice job Ron....I think you just saved that one....That's a good point to keep in the back of your mind,I would've done the same thing.....Great find's.....HH!!

Thats a great idea, stick it back in the wood and frame it, fantastic conversaton piece.

If that tree could tell stories.. bet it would go something like this.. "OUCH!!!!"

Great exciting post, thanks for sharing it.

I'd let it dry. Research the proper means of preservation and mount that in its own display case.

A small engraving of the location where it was found would also look nice.

Congratulations on the war-wood!
