CW finds from DIV XXIII

Had a great time as always. I mainly was hunting for brass so not too many bullets. Three of the bullets are star based Washington Arsenal. Two of the buttons are Eagle "I" with one coat and one cuff and with gold gilt. Scabbard tip, J hook, kepi buckle, gun tools, shell frag, knapsack hook, hoof pick, nipple protector and some misc stuff I have not identified yet. Diggin in Virginia are the best hunts to go on for digging civil war relics. I can't wait for the next hunt in November.

Awesome finds! I dug an eagle "I" button very simular to that one in a creek here in Montana, probably from the Indian wars. I hope someday I can come out to a state like yours and find a civil war relic!

Nice finds treasurehound!

what is the small rounde triangular "shield" shaped piece in the pic with the scabbard tip? I found one several years ago and as yet have not been able to ID.

nice finds congrats HH

you did well!! I have attended 5 DIV's now and can't seem to find a stinking J hook!

Great assortment of relics.congrats

I found an eagle button in Nevada, which must have come from a soldier stationed at Fort Churchill. It was on top of the ground just outside our yard fence, about 3 miles from the Post. That's the only one I've ever found though.

thousands of em ended up in Nevada as Surplus Bosn.....Indians wore many of em...of course aside from MUCH Military activity there and going through :icon_thumleft:

Most of the J hooks that I find at DIV's are in an area where there are a lot of buttons. At Beauragard there were several found at the New York camp. We called it button hill as there were so many buttons found there. Keep swinging as you will get one before long. Also on the TDI when you go over brass it screams at you. The J hook and scabbard tip liked to have blown my ears out.

Nice digs!
Nothing like that here in Colorado............

What does DIV stand for? Thank you
