CW In the mountains of NC

Heres a couple of photos of CW graves and a stone building far from civilization. These troops were part of Stonemans raid. The "skirmish" was not far from there. It took me an hour and a half to hike in this spot. Amazing what the troops had to go through back then. They tried to march at least 20 miles a day. All I had was a camera in hand and it was tough for me! Cant Imagine carrying all those supplies too! Much less the snakes and every thing else those men dealt with........SALUTE To North and the South

someone must be taking care of it. Hikers Historic society etc...The "Hut" isnt civile war but, it was near the graves

We will never know the 'hardships' they endured, plus the civilians had very rough times.
The people of AR resorted to making 'wooden shoes', & boiling the dirt in the 'smokehouses', (where hams were smoked)
for salt, because of the rivers being 'blockaded', & couldn't receive supplies.
