CW permission leads to relative I didn't know I had!

Been away from hunting and T-net for quite a while. But this is a cool story, I think -

I was recently shown some legal records that indicated that my Great-great-Grandfather sued the US gov't for damage done to his farm by Union soldiers. (He lost the suit!). I was able to locate the land (Which I never knew had been in my family's hands) and a small part of the original property (not the house site - Shoot!) is still owned by a distant relative. This relative's great-grandfather was brother to MY great-grandfather, both being sons of the man who filed suit. I was allowed to hunt, and deep in the woods, I found the earthworks. Crazy.

My relative told me the land had been pounded, but I was able to pull a few things. A CW-era curry-comb, a cuff-sized Eagle-I, a small Zouave button, a brass harness or knapsack buckle, couple of other items and a little group of dropped buck & balls. It was an erie feeling to know that someone wearing or carrying some of these items may have had a (heated) conversation with my G-G-Grandpa 150 years ago.

A Very Nice bunch of finds , & the story is wonderful.

I really like that brass buckle. & buttons are always welcome these days.
