This marks my 2nd plate found on a property, 3rd breast plate, and my 5th overall plate. All where found within the past year and a half!!!! There are plenty of relics still out there. This plate actually came out in good shape. Enjoy.

what a really nice find!!!! congrats!

Beautiful! I will never find one of those here in Florida. Maybe when I visit my old Kentucky home I may be fortunate enough. Love the eagle on the CW plate....so majestic!

Great looking breast plate! Congratulations!

Steve

I LOVE it when the ground thaws in the east ! :)

To Everyone who commented,

Thanks for all the praise. I'm not going to lie I did get lucky with this one. It cleaned up sooooo well. The soil at the dig location is pretty inert which is where the luck came from. I liked ones comment about posting all 5. I will get around to it hopefully soon.

For those that are still looking for there first plate ---

Go to "Hunted out" areas. At least 3 of my plates came from sites that others have already hit or been over. My last 2 I am not sure about but it is very likey someone has been to that location before me as well.

Also try old house sites. 4 of my plates came from old HS

Good luck to you. I hope you all find one as well. Its a really special feeling finding your first plate or second plate.

parsonwalker,

That's a great idea. I will hopefully get around to it soon. Keep an eye out.

That is NICE!! Very cool. Big Congrats

wow that is beautiful...

I agree with you on old home sites, mine came from an old home site here in a South Georgia cotton field a couple of months ago.....106.webp

OMGosh! they are fantastic! great finds! and I bet they clean up real nice too, unless you like the rustic look. Well done, fun to see!

Beautiful find, congratulations, still looking for my first breast plate!

Actually I dug My First Plate ( a U.S. Cartridge Box Plate) on this past Sunday, it looks to be in great shape - the Iron Hooks of course.
Have not cleaned it up yet ( won't take much) I'm bad at pics So hopefully I can get it ready for it's debut after 150+ years in the dirt/mud.
Got a-lot of what is it's to post as well.

For those who are plate'less just keep hunting & you never Know.

Congrats on the box plate. You said it does have the Hooks???? and can't wait to see it

Should have read except the small iron attachment hooks , still have not cleaned it up yet -still re-living the thought of uncovering it.
Took a bunch of What is it pic's yesterday, the plan is to go to the Doc, this AM 'Check Up' come home clean off this plate & another plate looking thing I dug the Sunday before last 'also for what is it' & Get my Wife to help me post Pictures.

Well that's the plan.
Thanks for the reply.
