Today after work, I joined Bill (B|ker) and Bob (rwsnc) to MD at the spot that is being cleared by my work. I wasn't at this site more than 5 minutes and I dug my 2nd knapsack hook for the week. Bill had an hour jump on us, and we found him on a lower section down by the river with an empty bag for his efforts. :tongue3:
Once I assured him there is stuff at this site to be found, we headed back up to higher ground where all of the bullets, relics, and arrowheads have been found. Once I dug my 2nd bullet, those two rookies came to my area to join in the fun. I dropped a bullet to see if their detectors were tuned in correctly and what they read. Sure enough that was the problem, and reason they hadn't found anything up to that point. After that, we continued to grid off about a 50' wide area, and were popping out bullets at a steady pace.
Bob dug his very first CW bullet (3-ringer) today!!! Congrats Bob!!!
It was truly a hot spot for CW relics. A camp I figure. Next Bob got a nice signal, and dug a CW belt keeper!!! You lucky dog. He was generous enough to give it to me for my collection of relics since the CW finds aren't his thing. Bob is a diehard coin hunter. ;D It was a bit ironic that my next dig was an SLQ!!! Unfortunately it has no date & is pretty worn. I was very excited to find it though, since that is my first coin from this spot. I was hoping for a reale, but the SLQ is just fine.
Bill scored some nice lead, and the first button from this site so far. Congrats Bill.
We had a lot of fun today, and all found some great stuff. There will be lots more to cover as this site progresses.
Thanks for looking & have a great w/end.

Congrats on the SLQ, Doug! I'm still waiting on my first...

Hope all's well by you.

CW belt keeper? Looks like junk to me. ;D :tongue3: Probably worth more than the SLQ. :D

Nate and I were just talking about how we haven't found a SLQ this year yet. They are fun to find even if they are barely recognizable. 8)

Bob

Junk? Junk? What is with you Bob's & your CW junk? That was the same thing that Bob who dug it up said. ;D
Don't feel bad. I threw my first one away about a year and a half ago because I thought it was "junk" too. :'( I learned my lesson after that. :tongue3: Here's another one on a CW web site so you don't think I'm trying to pass off an Ace elastic band holder as a CW belt keeper:

That SLQ was a total surprise that day. We were actually calling it quits, and I found it swinging on the way back to my truck.
Have a great week Bob.

WAAAHOOOO, Doug Dude, Kirk and I just got back from a local high school football game with Colonial Silver Zeus and I noticed another Doug Dude Civil War relic post!!! :icon_sunny: :icon_sunny: Let me just say that there were a bunch of schnitzs at the game. :D :D :D

You have been cleaning house on those knapsack hooks! :icon_sunny: The other relics and Standing Liberty quarter solidified your day.

Keep up the great excavations Doug and Co.! :icon_sunny:

I have a great feeling that a CW belt buckle is in that dirt! :o :D Dig all those overload signals and you won't regret it!

Keep your coil low and your passion high! :icon_sunny:

Thanks Guys. I was over there yesterday and they are starting to cut through a new section now on the other side of the stream. Hopefully there will be more CW relics & arrowheads to be found on that side.
The old section where I've found my finds so far is now being covered up / filled in with new dirt. That sucks. :'(
Have a great weekend. We are getting a LOT of rain here today, so my detecting will be a wash out. :(
