CZ21 and rechargeable batteries

How does the CZ21 run on rechargeable batteries? What rechargeable bats are longest lasting?
Im giving up on my Excal, since everything is falling apart on it, but I like the idea of the rechargeable batteries.

Just bought a set of 9.6v, 230 mah Powerex batteries and a Maha 4 bay smart charger. $70 or so. Haven't wrung them out yet but will report after I get a few cycles on them.

In my experience, rechargeable batteries don't work well in CZ-21. Also when they die they just stop. Not great if your in the water.
