Yes, I know how it is. And I’m glad they weren’t rocks. Chevron‘s always have a rounded end, roussettes, correct? And I don’t have them in any of the pictures. I do have some, but they’re not in that batch. I only have a few of those types and those were found in digs in New York State. They are on my shelf and need sorted yet. I have someone who really wants the old chevron ones so that he can do a better cleaning, which he’s very capable of doing , with his skill set, and he wanted to use for a display. I’m also aware that he is in archaeology and associated with several museums in Pennsylvania. and that makes me understand that if I lent them to him for display, I’ll never get them back. So I’m very hesitant. Correct me if I’m wrong but, you’d be cautious about lending them as well. Wouldn’t you?
Your selections really nice and like I said they’re very fancy. And they are all trade beads too. One thing you learn when dealing with any type of trade beads is when somebody tells you that you’re only going to find them in a certain area, don’t believe it. They’re trade beads, and you would be surprised at some of the places they show up. When I was in Alabama visiting, I stopped at a estate sale and gentlemen had an enormous collection of artifacts and I was going to buy some trade beads but he wanted to sell them as a complete collection and he was asking a hideous amount of money. by hideous, I mean to high of a price for me. They may very well have been worth it, but it is out of my price range.
I’ll definitely post some pics of the small display once I get it done. It’s not gonna be very big and I wanna make sure I get the details and facts correct too.
