Damaged quarter, possible mint damage?

I pulled this quarter from a coinstar machine the other day and assumed it was damaged over the years...but I had another look and I am wondering if this was damaged when minted...any theories are welcome and curious if anyone else has found damage similar to this.

looks like fire or heat damage to me, possibly from being dropped into a floor furnace. Definitely not mint damage

It sort of looks like a cast fake. Heat damage is more likely though.

As opined above, heat damage or bad counterfeit. Heat damage most likely.

I’ve seen worse.
