I've tried a couple of ankle breaking fields before and couldn't take it, so when I saw the farmer going on the second till I asked if I could hunt the field and he said 'ok'. What a difference that second till makes for walking. It was so easy to dig too. 20180921_134522.webp

Tons of iron which I'm really good at finding. Heard a large patch of small iron in the middle of the field, house or barn i think. That's where the tools, thimble, buttons, scissor handle were, scattered out over maybe 75 yards.
I was excited to find the thimble and then the dandy button turned up and made my days(3 days. One third of field done). If only I could ignore iron I could get done alot faster.20180925_090858.webp

The Dandy(35mm)cleaned up real nice with lemon juice. The back has a little gilt left.20180923_202602.webp20180923_211240.webp
Happy hunting.

What the heck is an oar lock doing in the middle of that field? That is some impressive find.

Make up some bogus story about finding those shoes in a Civil War Camp and post them on FleaBay. The "worth" of horseshoes now seems to be $103.50. .. or is that the "value?" Either way,you will be rich!

Hmm...I wonder what "colonial era" dug ox shoes are going for these days? Seems a little ridiculous. Good thing I'm saving all my pull tabs. Someday they'll be collectible and I'll be RICH!!!! Bwahaha.

Sell one of those tabs to me for $ 103.50 .. That will immediately redefine the value of them .. no.. no.. the worth of them .. and hence forth the value of all tabs will be worth that much .. We can all get rich!:laughing7:

That field looks like it would be easy on the back and knees. Congrats on all those nice saves.

Lemon juice worked well. This dandy button looks really good! It seems like they used it for many years after separation of the shank.

I think you're right. They punched the holes after the shank was gone.

Oar lock! I couldn't figure out what that was but it was one of those things that I knew I'd seen before, if you know what I mean.

Congratualtions on the nice relics! :icon_thumleft:

Really nice finds. The thimble is got some fancy to it. Looks silver. Congrats :icon_thumright:

Nice finds! Let me know if you want to see how the nox stacks up against the T2. I have some clients in the Tinton Falls area so I'm up there quite a bit!

That would be great. I grew up in Tinton Falls. Let me know when you're heading back here. We can go field hunting or door knocking. Tinton Falls has some old houses by the old grist mill that I want to hunt.

Nice finds! :icon_thumleft: That's a nice looking button.
