Well, seems the silver vein has finally tapped out. Picked up 6 boxes this afternoon--only had 1-40% keeper. Not the same bank where I had my nice mini-haul last/this week. Dang, it is tough to get thru those ol' skunky boxes. Hopefully there will be a tad silver left when I pick up my next boxes at my "silver bank." We shall see.

On a side note, I dropped by a bank I had previous luck at on the way home from picking up boxes. I go thru the drive-thru and ask for halves. The teller informed me she just had someone turn in $200 worth. She asked me how many I wanted. I gave her the "traditional" CRH answer: All of them. Well, she says they are loose so she will have to count them. Dang, I thought, she will cull the silver. But, it was the same teller that waited on me before . . . so I was hoping not.

After she shoved the bag thru the drawer, I head down the road. Course, I am just like everyone else here and just cannot wait to take a peak. I was not so happy as I see that pesky "Green P" everyone has heard me whine about over the past year. Dang, I thought, I can't get away from that guy (or gal)!

In the end, I did find a single Ben, but what was curious is that I also found a 1954 Greek Nickel in the mix--after the teller had handcounted these out. It is smaller than a half dollar, so certainly she noticed.

Ever notice how the boxes are real light when you carry them from the bank, but weigh a ton when you go to dump? :laughing7:

Boy do I ever. Those skunk boxes seem to weight a whole lot more. :laughing9:

Similar to how my garbage always seems to weigh more than my groceries :D

It seems that nearly every time I get customer rolls where the total is a round number (like 100, 150, 200, etc) they are someone's dumps. Even if not a true CRHer's dumps they will be all clad someone has held for a long time and just cashed in. If all the coins are unmarked it is safe to say they are probably not true "dumps" because here there are several graffiti artist CRHers.

My best customer roll scores have always been amounts like 130, 220, etc. Seems like every time a CRHer cashes in some rolls they pick a round number.

The absolute worst number amount is 500. If I call and they say that one teller has 500 I don't get them anymore. But 200 and 250 is bad too. If the total amount is a mixture from more than one teller than it is worth getting in my opinion.

Lately the tellers have been honest with me when I ask if the coins were dumped by a single person who dumps regularly. In the past they would lie just to get rid of them. Not seeing that as much anymore. I know the banks where the regular CRHers dump hand rolls and I never buy from them anymore. I still don't understand why some here (in my town) dump as customer rolls when there are several banks that offer free machine counting???
