Trying to determine the date of one I found recently. Any one know of a way to enhance the date. TIA.

Put a drop of olive oil on the date,,, then take a pix & post. I am thinking 1842 as well.

I think I'm seeing more of a rounded top on that third number. I'm guessing either 1832 or 1882

I'm seeing 1882, maybe. Try the oil like CaptEsteban said. Wet it, let it soak for a few minutes and then lightly pat dry with a paper towel. Try shining a flashlight at different "low" angles to exaggerate any height that does still exist. By low angles I mean almost level with the coin or just above the plane.

1882 would be an indian head cent. This is a braided hair, which was 1839-1857. It looks to me like an 1842. Good find!
