Backmark warranted orange. 1/2” diameter. the other orange backmarks I have found said rich orange. Any ideas of the date. TIA

Nice button. Imported English button probably late 1700s to 1810 I'd say.

Terms such as "Orange" to describe buttons that weren't actually gilded (they used coatings with little or no gold, including lacquers) first begin to appear after 1796, but indented backmarks didn't appear until about 1810, so it's later than that.
