Yesterday I said that I might get a hammered off this field & today I did. I think it broke as I was pulling the grass apart. This has never happened before & it would have to happen to one of the rare ones. My research so far has narrowed it down to:
13-14th century Venetian (Italy) Soldino. My first foreign hammered ever!!!

I have emailed the Cambs museum & I expect it will go in this years British Numismatic Journal (BNJ). I will update later.

Other finds included:
Bullet & cartridge found seperately (modern for rabbits)
Broken Roman Brooch
George II Halfpenny
Tudor pyramid button - the rarist type of tudor button, I only have 1 other.

Stunning early Pipe Tamper which is probably 17th century judging by the size of the end.

Wow, what a find. That looks like a .17 HMR round, the plastic tip lets the round go deeper before it expands. I think it's a V-MAx.

I think that one was in two pieces before you got to it(what do you expect, he's italian). Very nice dig, I'd love to pull up a magazine-worthy coin.

The BNJ is no magazine. Its the leading British Volume for coins found in the UK in any 1 year. Its about 2" thick. Its only really used by Museums & academics.

Nice one Dug. ;D

Museum came back to me with the answer:
"As you correctly guessed a soldino or 'galley-halfpenny'. As usual it is
a coin of Michael Steno (1400-13). These coins were imported into
England by the annual Venetian galley fleet."
