Still working the field on my own so set out early to miss the forecast rain/snow. The wind was twice as strong & blowing down hill again but at least the sun was out. Only did 3 hours.

Not much but covering the land quickly with very few digs;

Tombac button (no I didn't hit it, in fact I didn't even need to dig it)
Lead Token
2 Scrappy Roman Coins (taking the total to 61 this year)
Possible lower section of a Saxon Stirrup Mount (but might be something else) ???

Wait to see if we have snow tomorrow :icon_scratch:

The Tombac has a nice design on it, looks like a little bite out of it, that is better than it being broken in half like so many can be.

Nice finds for a short hunt. If there is roman coins there has to be some sweet medieval finds just waiting to be taken.

Thanks, I like it too, its a variant of designs I already have. But just different enough to make my day.

Not neccessarily, the odd roman coin is in every field I hunt. But in this case the area I'm doing is more likely to produce Medieval stuff than Roman. I am right on the edge of the Roman Towns administrative boarder. But it was too heavy clay to farm so would have been wooded & livestock grazing. However in the Medieval period a footpath from where the monks lived to the church meant constant walking & riding. I have already covered the footpath quite well however there should be a few more items of interest.
