Dug my nicest looking coin tonight . A beautiful seated quarter. Also a wiped US LC, IHP, merc, buttons , my first clay pipe stem , pocket knife and some interesting iron . My question is ,would you guys think it would be worth it to get the seated graded ? It practically has mint luster on it . Never had anything graded before 20200514_192830.jpg 20200514_191313.jpg IMG_20200514_194314_254.jpg IMG_20200514_194314_251.jpg 20200514_164136.jpg IMG_20200514_194314_259.jpg

An 1857P is a very common date. To me it wouldn't be worth the expense to get it professionally graded.

Sweet looking quarter right there. I wouldnt bother with the grading either but that's just my preference. If I was gonna sell a coin I might have it graded but that would be the only reason for me. Nice finds.

Most coins that are dug will get the designation enviornmentally damaged,if your doing it to sell it its not worth it but for yourself it would be cool. I joined NGC you pay a member ship fee then each coin is about $22.00 plus shipping which is about $20.00. I joined for getting my W quarters graded. They do offer coin cleaning and other stuff.

That is a very nice looking coin, but like Tommy said, I would save my money on the grading. It will come back "Environmentally Damaged" in the slab, or they will not even slab it, they would just send it back in a "Body Bag" stating it was "Environmentally Damaged". You could have them professionally clean it for you, then slab it, but that would run into way more money than the coin is worth. If it were mine, I would put it into a 2x2 holder, label it, and enjoy it for the rest of your life.
