Great finds and nice you guys got together but.....hey hey hey where is the MANDATORY Picture of you both together?
You are really that big of a glutton for punishment Gypsy?
I cannot honestly be sure of the connection, but after posting my pic last time there was a 50% drop of peps logged on for a few days. At the same time I was watching the news and they were reporting on an unexplained pandemic of peps getting eye surgeries and / or buying dark sunglasses.

Congrats on the silver and your first V nickel!
You deserve it bud!
I'm sniffing out a silver quarter right around the corner for you!
I can't begin to say how much I would love for that nose to be right on the money.

I told you that you will start finding older nickels now. Next one should be a shield.
Way to go!
Another coin found from your tip on the ID change. Thank you much again. This one was a mega surprise. Oldest coin I know of coming out of this particular spot.
Now if I hit a shield WOW. Now that would knock my socks off down here to find that.
Thanks again to all of my good friends. Yes its great to have Daytondigger down here visiting. We do seem to have a bit of fun and seem to always have a little bit of an adventure while we are at it. We have been finding some silver coinage and other great finds. However, we still have not been able to locate the mining scrip which Dayton really wants to find. So keep your fingers crossed for his next visit please. I will continue research plus he has already done a great deal of research. Hopefully we can get into that Scrip next time.
I believe he is dead on with some of the spots he has in mind for the scrip. It's just one of those things that I am sure many of you have encountered before. Stips of places in the woods where homes were torn down and tons of big metal trash items. Here trash collection I guess wasn't a priority most of the time. Many peps had bigger worries like feeding thier families. That is during the 1950's and back when much of the scrip was being used.
Many peps lived basically in shacks, or shacks provided by the mine companies. And since the mines were double dipping by working them hard and paying them with money that they could only use by buying stuff from the mines stores you can see where they did not have a lot of money. But then again many peps here were happy being able to feed thier families.
I say this because for many of thems working on cars and other jobs gave them some extra monies. They were all busy working those long hard hours so no one really organized a place to put trash. So most of these yards have years and years of trash piled around them. Then now that they are off the beaten path in the woods, but not too far off, many peps have came along and illegally dumped loads of stuff on top of that.
Some people I am sure did this, but most did not burn up their trashes and create one place in the community to get rid of other trashes. It was acceptable by most all peps who lived back in there hollers and in those conditions, so no one ever thought about it. This might be a problem where you live as well for finding old coins, so perhaps you do understand all to well. BUT if not I hope this helps explain just how hard it is to find the scrip and in some cases the old coinage.
After all wooded areas where homes were are almost always mini trash dumps. Would take a day or 2 just to cut out some of the foilage much less to deal with the trash. I would say that if you were cleaning up each home and had a 5 man team working at a good pace, it would probably take a minimum of 1 full day per house and yard. Now on the other hand clean yards in town and in the county. The Oxycontin and other drug problem that has led to so much theft is putting most private yards out of permission.
I know that many of your places have similiar problems and for most of you this might be a killer day too. Because I sure consider the times he has been here to be some great hunting days. Those finds seem like a little, but is a great day down here. Anyways, next time perhaps we will have a couple of days to concentrate on a researched home. Perhaps we can find out who lived there and if they worked in mines during the times of scrip. Perhaps then it will be worth while to take a day to move out a great deal of the larger trash and see how much that changes our luck. After all I would sure love to see Dayton leaving here with some Scrip on the next trip.
Thanks all for the great words and replies,
