🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Decorative Clip or ?

At first I thought this might be a hair clip or the like but closer inspection shows it is open on one long side but seems to be one piece on the other long side versus a clip you open on the pointy end like a hair clip. Does not appear to be a brooch or pendant. Hmmmmm Other things at this site from 1700s-1900s and a couple civil war buttons.

Looks like something that was sort of cylindrical or conical that got squashed flat.
