After a full day of heavy rain yesterday, we braved the cold & ice this morning to see what washed up. We didn't hunt long, 29 degrees is a tad cold! Mostly found some broken tools and material, husband found a large base. Any guesses to what it could have been? Notched on one side, pretty thin, crude flip side.

Braving the cold!

Got lots of rain, about 3' higher than it should be.

If I lived in an area that had good point hunting, I would be out everyday. I would rather hunt artifacts than deer and I love to hunt deer.

Prolly a little of both \m/. Keep on seeking for what you look for is there.

it is always a good day to hunt,i think the big piece could of been a preform looks like a nice place

Heck yeah great finds I hunted today cold burrrrrrr

me to i always hunt something somewhere.

I hunted the creek today too, started out unseasonably warm and got colder as the day went on...maybe it's more like obsession lol but I only found one small shard, some broken points and the dropper for the old Vicks bottle that I found a few months ago, oh and a small unidentified bottle ;-) Tomorrow's spose to be a typical December day here in western NC but if it's not raining or snowing I'll be out again for a bit.

be carefull nc,take the hubby wiyh ya

I don't see anything wrong with getting out and hunting when it's cold out. I have hunted when there are patches of snow still on the ground. Just make sure you stay warm, and stay off the thin ice.

Heck yes if theres bare ground then the hunt is on.Ive taken my warm coffee and dumped it on a point in illinois to free it from the ice in november. Here in Maine ive found them in december and found them in march but it usually tskes special circumstances like a sun melted hill side.I have a tidal river so theres shoreline to hunt when the tides out....

I like it when it rains after all of the leaves have dropped. The higher the water the faster the current to take away all of the leaves. Just think what will be showing when the water goes down and the gravel bars get exposed. I cant wait till hunting season is over and it dries out a bit. Nice finds, rock

The one big square piece can we see the side that is broken? They did make a tool called a square knife. Seeing it has the notch that might actually be part of the knife and used like a spokeshave. Both ends head on shot would be great to see.

Here is one of mine minus the spokeshave. Mine is made out of quartzite and is crude but still a nice example and is a personal find. Mine is flat on the end and not worked just kinda snapped.

You have to stay at it no matter if it's hot or cold. In my area you will fill your boots up with cold water sometimes, but that is just hunting. You can warm up and dry out when you get home. At least I don't worry about the snakes in the cold.

Ohhhh I sure hate it when that happens tip toeing just to get to the other side haha there's nothing crazy about it ... You can't find em on the couch ;)

i remember getting in the water and finding out it warmer in there

Yep looks like it hit a rock while tumbling and cause the break. It surely would of been a nice thin knife if whole.
