what does the bottom part of the base look like? is it squared off from ancient or more recent breakage? could be an Adena or variants ( wells, waubsea) with the blade side well used.

there are some gary subtypes that could fall in maybe as well.

No the base is knapped. Yes it is from S.E Tennessee. It was out of context when I found it. 2 5/8"
Thanks Garscale for letting me post on your thread. ( I know it would be seen! haha) I saw your sloth slayers base and made me dig this one out.

Nice relics, the serrations are very pronounced

Has this type been formally described, I’m thinking not? Will they be?

I have informally described them but noone has officially done so. I thought TSU might but it just never quite happened. I know of examples from a wide area. There has been some consideration they could be related to the Western Stemmed tradition artifacts.

I assume the stem is ground?

So cool, the styling of the "Big Game-Getters"...! Wow!
Great Finds...! :icon_thumright:
Very effective, I'm sure...!

In all liklihood, not any time soon will they be formally acknowledged.

"Un-controlled" excavation recovery/ discovery.
Discoverer not piled higher and deeper.
Owned/dug by "looter" (owning site irrelevant).

Strikes one, two and three right there. Too much/too severe loss of professional face.

Hoping but not expecting I'm wrong. How many years ago and no "peer-reviewed" (village Soviet OK'd) publication ? Not to mention no mainstream media coordinated splash. Non-event. Nothing to see here, folks. Move along now.

no doubt these were found by a dedicated individual who has devoted a lot of effort to uncover the past and explain his interpretation of those finds...

T. Hester listened...

That's good to know. You/ he is a crusty ol fart but I have much respect for his work and knowledge.

"GarScale Sloth Slayer" I kinda like that name. Submit it to Overstreets they will publish it! Glad we got to see it here first.
