A lot depends on the general conditions of the parks. Are they trashy? Have they received new sod or fill through the years? Just one of those choices won't handle all that you'll want to do.

If they are generally trashy and no fill; the 5.7 might do best. If they've been sodded and / or filled in over the years, the 10x12 would work best for you.

I have a DeLeon, too, and the 5.7 was the first additional coil I bought. I then saved up and got the 10x12. Our local high school was built in 1927 and has a little bit of fill put into 2 relatively small areas through the years, so both coils are players for me on this one school yard. There is a small park in town that has a base of tree bark, leaves, twigs, and acorn shells supporting the grass layer. THAT park will get the 10x12 coil.

Good luck and happy hunting. ;D

most are trashy, no fill.

In a case with just trash, the 5.75 would work better. You'll have to go slow and watch your overlap very carefully. You might be suprised the depth you get with it. The 10X12 is a lot heavier coil and stays on the ground better but would probably wear you out quicker.
Hunting the method you describe, you will want to watch the meter more. Any signal that hits 95 a time or two, you'll want to dig as well as anything around 77 or so. But recently I had a signal that bounced around from 28 to 55 and dug anyway. Turned out to be a heavy silver figaro chain.

Anyone used the 8" donut on the Deleon?

I liked the 8in brown coil with my silver umax, I bet it would work well with the Deleon. I think the silver was easier to pinpoint with than the Deleon. I mean when I pinpointed something with that brown doughnut coil the target was always inside the hole, with the 8x9 I miss it by a few inches sometimes.

I have the same results with my older style Bandido II's brown coil. The coil on you silver umax will work on the DeLeon as will all other umax coils. All the umax coils work on my BD II, so it and my DeLeon cover a LOT of different circumstances I come up against. If you still have the Silver umax, you,too will have excellent flexibility in your hunts.

Good luck.
