Demo find.

My neighbor found this in the wall while doing a demo. It looks to me like its staff that a pipe and drum major would use. Can anyone identify what it is and maybe some history of it? Thanks

while de-plastering a wall in a ©1800 farm house we uncover a box with papers in it. #1) promissory note-'' --to be payed in pounds, shillings and pence, or N.J. currency- dated 1797! #2) ledger book from 1820, one item' Whiskey=$1!- something between every stud on that wall. I presented the owner who will have someone from Cornell do the preserving--hope to post pix when they come back---da Prof
