So I got bored before work today and decided to detect a little dirt cutout in the parking lot as an excuse to test out my new gp pointer. I got a faint signal and found an old broken mason jar filled with receipts and 6 silver quarters. I just cleaned these babies up:

That brings my total to 18 silver coins this year. I've been working on this to put them in:

Not just silver, but a cache. Great find. I think I'd hit that same hole again.

Great find I cant tell you how many mason jar lids I find and then hope theres a jar under it with coins not yet. I like the display case I do that with all my silver and wheats made my own display cases. It shows that you appreciate history and all the effort you put into finding these coins, Great post let us see them when your done with the coins in em!!!!Tommy

Nice finds and close to home

That's a great find and close to home. You'll always be looking every time you go by there and get to relieve that feeling.HH

On a side note I live in Hawthorne (los angeles) and found the coins right next to one of the main streets. To think that somebody stashed these here 50+ years ago without a tweaker or a crackhead digging them up is mindboggleing.

This just goes to show that in overdeveloped areas there are still treasures of old to be found. I might go hit the nearby parks filled with homeless people. I bet nobody detects those places and they are all from what I like to call the silver era.

Awesome find! Inspirational even! Ive been eyeing a big ol tree trapped in a 4x6 dirt patch at the edge of a parking lot... trash, trash, treasure?

Almost all of my best finds have been in random places that are all very small and very trashy.

Nice finds indeed! Love the display-case idea.

It's actually a box that I am inletting to put 1 mercury dime, 1 Roosevelt dime, at least 1 washington, my Morgan or my new peace dollar and mmaybe a couple more dimes. Then detect and fill with more coins lol
