Detecting in the rain

How many of you still go out when it's raining (as long as it's not lightning)? To me, it seems like a good time to go, since many would rather stay home than get wet. I just wear my swimsuit like I'm going in the water to detect, even if I'm going to be on land. Fewer detectorists to compete with this way, I would think.

I'm usually under trees so that canopy helps cut the rain fall intensity down

Depends on where I'm detecting and the time of year. Summer at the beach, sure, let it rain. Land detecting close to home, I just wait until it clears. A trip to farm fields in England, I wear a rain suit and tough it out.

Wet ground (non salt) detects better than dry ground.

I mean if it's just raining not a storm

Interesting definition. We have storms here, but, rarely ones with lightning.....maybe 1-2 a year on average. The rest of the storms are just rain and wind.

Love rain detecting - whole beach to myself in the water- Ihunt low so
only thing you sometimes see is 2 in. of my snorkel sticking out - in shallows
i squat down (duck walk) or hunt on my knees in lightning
many times i will hear lightning strike water threw headphones
