Last summer I decided to hunt a very small play ground in an older part of town. It was early. Two young kids were playing on the swings in the area. It was not a good part of the town, but I kept my eyes open for any possible problem situations.
My first swings were on the outside curbs, and initially found a few coins and a neat little Hot Wheel.
After digging I looked up and found that a young boy and girl were looking over my shoulder. They asked what I was doing, and of course, gave them a fun tutorial on metal detecting.
They followed me around, and asked the normal questions.
Time passed, and the little boy was tapping on my shoulder. He had 2 dimes and 3 pennies in his hand, and want to give them to me. I guess he thought that I was metal detecting to find money to survive. Many of the locals were living in the alleys or shelters.
I will always remember that day.
