Detector protector

After upgrading my f2 to a x-terra 705 i been thinking how can i keep this is good condition. Been looking at a few options on protecting the shaft... Fishing rod wrap or using gun tape

I have the screen cover but thinking of the rest of it. Anyone have pics on what they did?

Get yourself some Vet Wrap for the shaft,tape will leave a sticky residue on it unless specified that it won't.

The wrap will add some weight to your swinging and may complicate taking it apart/putting it together and I've never had much happen to the shafts on my machines but then if you want to take extra good care then it is yours to play with. Make certain it does not interfere with the signals. The box is what always seems to take the worst beating and I could see some protective tape on it. Please give us a picture of your ultimate protected project once finished.......................63bkpkr

Personally, I don't buy a detector based on what I can sell it for so I couldn't care less if gets a few scratches and dings in it. Gives it character. That said, I do use some protection against the elements such as a rain hood and/or wrap for the control housing. Not for wear and tear but to keep the electronics from getting zapped.

I use the ZAGG Invisishield screen protector over the face of my Etrac. Did not like the rain cover that much. I believe they make one for 705. Good luck!
