Indeed. You may hear a lot of fancy jargon, like Iq, multifrequency, simultaneous multifrequency etc, but at the end of the day, unless you have any special needs, you will end up with a new machine that will perform no better than the one you already have - T2, in 99% of your hunts.
The only one significant general upgrade, in my oppinione, is haveing a waterproof detector. Even if you are not diveing or water-muldrakeing, the nature is significantly different on a rainy day. Most noteworthy is the luck of spectators and almost zero probability to stumble upon someone who would try to chase you off the area, try to make your day miserable or call the Police, even though you might not be brakeing any laws.

I have always done well with Fisher F19's and Teknetics G2+ detectors, they run at 19 khz and they do well in iron without a lot of falsing, plus they won't break your budget and they are very easy to setup and use.
